Web Hosting – Website Security

Google and other searches will usually tag a search result with a warning, saying that the site might harm the user’s computer or install malware. If you check your own site in search results and come across this warning for one of your own web pages, check with Google Diagnostics or other webmaster services for other search engines, and investigate thoroughly. Another instance is when a search engine has blacklisted your site. Either of these is an indicator that your website may have been compromised, and has then been used to host illegal content or a spamming or phishing program.

Risky advertisers

Hosting ads on your website is a solid practice for making a profit from your content, but you should check out the business advertising through you to make sure that they are reputable. An otherwise innocent website may still host malware generated from the code of a banner ad, and you’d still get flagged for malware anyway through no fault of your own.
