Web in a Flash
If you are thinking of designing an interactive and a dynamic website, then using Flash may be your best option for your website. Flash is essentially a type of media player and a designing environment created by Macromedia Technologies. It is an environment that allows you to create compressed audio / video files that can be used for multimedia presentations. Flash files can be used to create presentation files or they can be used as integrated components in a website.
You can have bi-directional streaming with Flash files and thus this special feature allows you to create interactive web pages, as well as interactive menus. The website can be dynamically steered through user-friendly interactive menus that ask for the user’s input to proceed. This technology can really create cool websites that can generate some serious interest on the part of the visitor.
Some other advantages that include using flash in web designing include a common interface, which makes these websites viewable on variety of platforms and on different web browsers. Hence, you can really create integrated web designs that can be used by almost any computer. Moreover, you can easily prepare flash files without having an intimate knowledge of HTML programming or computer programming. This means that with just a week’s practice, you can easily start preparing Flash animations to integrate with your website. Furthermore, Flash files don’t take a lot of file size and this makes them easy to download and store on your website. Thus, instead of storing your video files in Media format (which can make them become a couple of megabytes in size), you can easily store them in a Flash format that takes only a space of few kilobytes.
However, there can be problems with using Flash files in order to have a proper design. One of the problems associated with Flash files is that they can block the search engines from indexing your website properly. As you know, search engines such as Google use the text in your website to determine its relevancy in search engine rankings. However, when you base your whole website in a Flash file; you will have problems with these search engine rankings as the spider programs won’t be able to decipher the content in your website.
Another problem that you may have with Flash files may be the fact that they might cause you to swerve away from the main theme of your website. This can be a real danger as visitors will find your website visually pleasing, but they may not find it successful enough if the content on your website is not competitive enough. Also, some web browsers may also block flash content from being displayed.
However, even with all these cons, using Flash can be a huge advantage for your website. It can create some genuine interest in your visitors and it can help create dynamic and interactive websites that can cause quite a success. But, it is important to get professional help when you are integrating flash files with your web site layout.

Flash just gotta love it sometimes its a pain to optimize but you have to take the good with the bad… If properly designed it can be a breeze to optimize. Last WebPro conference I attended I hear rumors of 3rd generation spiders being able to crawl flash files!!! Far fetched or reality? We’ll see soon
Yea good points here
